Among Compare Suite customers are large companies that need to install Compare Suite on many PCs. System administration in this case is a tough task and we are trying to help company’s professionals with this.

Disabling some menu options

Sometime it is necessary to disable some menu options in Compare Suite. For instance, for a company-wide installation it is a good idea to disable options related to update.

Here is what system administrator can do (before trying this, make sure you have the latest version of Compare Suite, downloaded from our web-site).

1. Run comparesuite.exe with parameter “/getactionslist” (without quotes).

2. As a result file ActionsSettings.txt will be created on your desktop.

3. In ActionsSettings.txt you will find all supported keys and you will find there instruction about how to use these keys and where the resulted file can be placed.

For example:

The file ActionsSettings.txt may contain:

AEnableAutoUpdates !!! Check for updates automatically=0

which will gray out the “Check for updates automatically” menu command. One of the possible locations for the ActionsSettings.txt is a Compare Suite’s installation directory.

With Compare Suite it is now possible to specify more detailed ignoring mask. It is possible to use symbols like * (any symbols) and ? (any single symbol).

For instance, to ignore all date strings that look like:

• Date 01.02.2010 10:22

user can apply the following ignore mask:

• Date ??.??.???? ??:?? * {0}

where ending {0} tells Compare Suite to ignore this very line. It Compare Suite should ignore the next line there should be {1}.

With Compare Suite it is now possible to specify more detailed ignoring mask. It is possible to use symbols like * (any symbols) and ? (any single symbol).

There is one good question that you can always ask to test seller. If he use his own service? If someone who is trying to sell you investments actually have invested there too. If someone who selling software using it for its own needs. We asked this question to authors of Compare Suite and they gave us a lot of examples of how they use their product!

As a result we decided to use Compare Suite in our Czech teaching business. We do live online Czech trainings and we also do professional proofreading with comments. Our students send us document in Czech and our goal is to proofread it. Once we have proofreaded version we can compare it with source version and add our comments there.
