Command line support is one of the numerous features in Compare Suite

Command line is used by experienced PC users and of course IT specialists. It saves much time as you can quickly access programs and files, start processes, create bat and cmd files which start programs with already set tasks and goals.

Compare Suite solution from AKS-LABS took this into account, and thus the program is fully compatible with command line, i.e. has a full command line support. Thus, Compare Suite can be opened from command line. Besides, the program itself can create bat files with compare parameters.

How can it be useful for a user? Imagine that you have to regularly compare certain folders. Instead of opening Compare Suite and searching for files or folders to be compared you can simply create a bat file which will have all compare settings.

There is an Integration menu option in Compare Suite (File-Integration manager). You will be offered a menu where you will have to choose files or folders to be compared. After that Compare Suite will ask you about which action you want to use. There are two options: standard compare (i.e. visual side by side comparison) or skipping this stage and creating report. You may choose report form and the location for the report to be saved.

In case you chose folder comparison mode you may use synchronize features. Compare Suite will offer you several synchronization options like replacing right file with the left, if one of them is newer or skipping files. You can also set synchronization direction. Below, in the result command you will have a line of text which you may use to create bat file by yourself or paste it to command line.

Finally, you may either compare files by clicking Execute or create a bat file. If you choose execute then Compare Suite will create temporary bat file and run it. If you choose to create a bat file you need to choose location.

The result command will have such a shape: CompareSuite.exe /r:C:\some.html c:\file1.txt c:\file2.txt where file1 and file2 are any files you may choose to compare.

Thus, using command line in the work of Compare Suite will certainly save you much time. For instance, you may create a bat file to be used by your colleagues when you are not in the office. Cmd and bat files are used to apply Compare Suite with other control version software as well.
