We are using the features of Comparing Folders, Ignore Line option( not ignore by keywords), XML Comparing( XML is not Sorted but Compare Suite sorts it before comparing) and using command line calls. The file formats are PDF, XML, Text & CSV. We use Compare Suite in both stand alone mode and we call it as part of in integrated regression run to create automated reports.

I found it easy to use and clear in it’s presentation of differences. At one point I needed to compare three files and I was able to do that (as confusing as it was). This was the only product that I found that would let me visually perform this task.

This product usually mean for me. It helps me a lot when i am dealing comparing to images or text files. Previously i do it manually and now it is so simple to compare two files in just a one click. Compare PDF definitely makes comparing PDF documents easier. The colour coding of the added, modified, or removed lines makes comparing multiple document quick and painless. The feature that allows you to compare more than two documents is also extremely beneficial because it also us to verify that the data in each of our products is truly refreshed. I can say that the Compare Suite Standard has sufficient functionality for most tasks of datcenter administrator. However there’s not enough documentation for Compare Suite Standard Edition for the results of comparison. It makes additional difficulties to integrate your product into a single software environment. It would be useful to have access to objects of automation (COM).

Despite differences in comments files are identified as identical

The latest version of Compare Suite makes it possible to ignore comments in source codes, such as Delphi, PHP, Java, C# and C++. This feature is enabled and disabled in Ignore section of Options menu. As said above, comments are not meaningful since they are not parts of codes. In some cases, it is reasonable to compare comments too, for example, to review versions of comparison files and source codes in detail. Thus, depending on requirements of comparison, users may either enable or disable comments ignoring feature in Compare Suite. In the majority of instances, comments are not meaningful. It is important to load files with correct extensions that are currently supported by Compare Suite (Delphi, PHP, Java, C# and C++).

Ignore comments in source files

As known, Compare Suite also can recognize source codes of some programming languages and highlight those parts of text which are recognized as programming language code, for instance, HTML, C#, PHP. It is convenient to compare parts of codes and “normal texts” inside codes. Comments ignoring feature for source codes makes CS an efficient tool both for code comparison and team work in software development. It is not a secret that the best way to find bugs and errors in new code versions is to contrast them against older app codes. This ignoring feature works only for source codes, not ordinary texts.

Your product have functional enough for our purposes. We use your product as a command-line as in GUI mode. Sometimes your product detects differences in identical files. Apparently this is due to the different attributes that Windows not considered significant. This feature of your product we use for tracking an unscheduled file access and improve security. I would like to be able to fine-tune the structure of the report on the comparison directory. Also I would like to be able to configure ERRORLEVEL value when using the command line, depending on the type of differences.
