Hi,
Could CompareSuite compare PDF file with retaining formatting?
e.g two PDF files contain the same contents with different formatting (font size, font style etc)?
Another questions is that could ComareSuite compare pictures inserted in two PDF files?
I am looking for a pdf comparison tool with above funcions. Hope that CompareSuite is my candidate.
Thanks in advance.

Hi, NeilsonNiu

Compare Suite converts PDF to plain text and then compares the contents. This means it will show the difference in content, but not in font sizes, styles and so on.

Compare Suite doesn’t compare pictures, for this you’d have to use some OCR software first. |

Hi Brandon,

Is is possible for Compare Suite to support compare PDF with retaining formatting in future?
Could you recommend me some other compare tools which could compare text with fonts sizes, styles and so on?
Thans in advance.
Regards,

Yes, currently our developers are working on that. We plan to retain the formatting and representation of PDF files in future versions of Compare Suite.

You might want to check Diff Doc at http://www.softinterface.com/MD/MD.htm. Professional version costs $400. Standard version is $149 but it cannot compare MS Word, MS Excel and PDF.
There is a useful article on comparing file comparison software. Read more... |

Hi Brandon,
Diff Doc can only compare plain text for PDF files too.
Another enhancement for Compare Suite is to support comparing the pictures in PDF files. Hope that Compare Suite is more stronger than any other comparison tools in future.
In my case, we'll generate several business reports in PDF formats. As you know, the formatting and pictures are important for a business reports. To automate-test this part, a powerful PDF comparison tools will help us.
The bad news is that it seems all the existed comparison tools can only compare plain text in PDF files.
Anyway, thanks for your reply and suggestions, Brandon.

It really can compare all of the above and not only that. But the price of the Professional version is $449. So if you need to compare a lot of PDF files and the formatting is important, purchasing Adobe Acrobat Professional might be a good idea. But if font sizes don’t matter, Compare Suite is a good choice. |
